Abstract: The stereospecific synthesis of 3-methyl-5-phenylsulfonyl-3E-penten-1-ol (1) was accomplished by using 4-hydroxyl-2-butone(2) as the starting material through four steps.The key step in synthesis is the stereospecific rearrangement of allylic alcohol(4).
