Studies on Mechanism of MeOH Decomposition over MgO Catalyst

Abstract: Mechanism of MeOHdecomposition over MgOcatalyst was studied with IRspectra and 13C isotopic techniquesIt is found that MeOH forms formate ions over MgO at 300℃ ,and then decomposes to CO and H2. The decomposition of formate ions becomes the rate controlling step in MeOH decomposition over MgO.
