Pervaporation Separation of Isopropanol/Water Mixture by the Chitosan Composite Membrane

Abstract: The chitosan composite membrane was prepared by pouring chitosan-HOAc solution ontothe polyacrylonitrile microporous supporting membrane.Pervaporation separation of azeotropic iso-propanol/water.mixture by this membrane indicates that the flux has an extremely increase than the crosslinking chitosan membrane and separation factor is considerably high.Meanwhile, both flux and separation factor enhance with temperature increasing, and more slowly decrease with isopropanol concentration increasing.
