Abstract: Various roughening procedures for the bare Zn electrode such as chemical etching, electrochemical deposition and the electrochemical oxidation-reduction method were tried to obtain surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS) from it and electrochemical oxidation-reduction method was proved effectively. Two electrochemical oxidation-reduction methods were described. One is linear sweep oxidation-reduction cycles(ORC) and the other is a double-step ORC. By using confocal Raman microscopy, surface enhanced Raman spectra of pyridine adsorbed on the bare roughened Zn electrodes were observed for the first time, when reduction potential was controlled at -1.6 V and oxidation potential at -0.7 V.
