Abstract: Upon cyclic electrochemical polarization, traces of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphyrin(H2TPP), which have been mechanically transferred to the surface of a paraffin-impregnated graphite electrode, can incorporate copper, iron or cobalt ions from aqueous solution into the porphyrin ring to form CuTPP, FeTPPCl and CoTPPCl. The binding of metal ions by H2TPPcan be studied by voltammetry of immobilized microparticles. The mechanism of formation and reaction of the metalloporphyrins and their electrocatalytic properties were elucidated.
