Abstract: Aseries of MCM-48 contained chromium mesoporous molecular sieve, prepared by hydrothermal crystallization and characterized by IR, Py-IR, XRD and TG-DTA, were used to catalyze the oxidation of octadecanol and eicosanol to the corresponding acid. The evaluation of the catalytic properties indicated that Cr content affected the catalytic oxidation activity. The catalyst with 5%Cr gave the highest yield of α-octadecanoic acid and eicosanic acid. Depending on the amount Lewis acid sites in the samples, the reaction products were monitored by using IR technique, and the obtained results were consistent with that of chemical analysis.
