Abstract: The adsorption isotherms of glycine, the infrared spectroscopy of glycine adsorbed on the ion exchange resin and the desorption rate of glycine from the ion exchange resin were used to study the mechanism of superequivalent adsorption of amino acid on the ion exchange resin. It can be concluded that the mechanism of the superequivalent adsorption is the formation of the second layer of glycine molecule, and the carboxylic groups of the first layer of glycine on the ion exchange resin act as the exchange sites for the second layer of glycine.

Key words: Amino acid, Ion exchange resin, Superequivalent adsorption
