Measurement of the Formation Rate Constants of-Coenzyme B12 Models by Thin Layer Spectroelectrochemistry

Abstract

Abstract: The formation rate constants of coenzyme B₁₂ model compounds produced through the reaction of [Co(I)TPP]^- with PhCH₂Cl, CH₃I, CH₃(CH₂)₃Cl was measured by thin layer spectroelectrochemistry i.e.single potential step chronoabsorptiometry(SPS-CA).Their values are 1.62 × 10² mol^-1·L·s^-1 for PhCH₂Cl, 11.09 mol^-1·L·s^-1 for CH₃Iand 6.93 × 10^-2 mol^-1·L·s^-1 for CH₃(CH₂)₃Cl respectively.These reactions are second order and first order in respect of [Co(I)TPP]^- or RX.
