Abstract: Gold nanoparticles were assembled on the polyvinylpyridine modified ITO electrode to form a particle monolayer.Mercury nanoshell on the surface of the gold nanoparticles was obtained by electrochemical deposition. The formation of the mercury nanoshell resulted in a red shift and damping of the surface plasmon resonance of the inner gold nanoparticles.Molecules adsorbed on the mercury nanoshell can still experience the enhanced electric field from the gold core,as a result, the Raman scattering of the adsorbed molecules can be greatly enhanced.
