Abstract: Polymer-supported bimetallic catalyst PVP-PdCl2-MnCl2[PVP=poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone] exhibits a high activity and selectivity for the oxidative carbonylation of aniline to carbamate ester under atmospheric pressure [v(CO)/V(O2)=10/1]. A remarkable bimetallic synergic effect in PVP-PdCl2-MXn(M: second transition metal) gives rise to an obvious increase in the conversion and selectivity for the reaction in the presence of a base(NaOAc). Among the Mcomponents tested, Mn-Pd exhibits the strongest synergic effect.

Key words: PVP-PdCl2-MnCl2bimetallic catalyst, Oxidative carbonylation, Synergic effect, Ethyl N-phenylcarbamate
