Abstract: The inside wall of a graphite tube was modified with a thin film of polyacrylamidine thiocyanate.Trace gold was electrochemically preconcentrated by the graphite tube being soaked in its solution and then the determination of trace gold by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry was carried out.It was shown experimentally that Ag,Ir, Rh, Pd and Ft did not interfere in the determination of Au, and a hundred fold enhancement in analytical sensitivity was found. The analytical sensitivity of the method (1% absorption) was 3.5×10-10 mol/L.The method was applied to the determination of trace gold in ore with a satisfactory result.
