Abstract: A new type of catalyst, Ni-Fe/SiO2,in which Fe is used as the activity promoting agent, has been prepared by a new method.The effects of some factors such as preparation conditions, reducing temperatures and reacting conditions were investigated.It is shown that Ni-Fe/SiO2 catalyst has a good activity to the hydrogenation of vegetable oil, the addition of Fe is very important for improving the activity of the catalyst.
