Abstract: A novel coordination polymer [Zn6(bta)4(2,2'-bipy)3], with three-dimensional structure, was obtained via assembly of flexible tripodal ligand 1,3,5-benzenetriacetic acid(H3bta) with 2,2'-bipy, Zn(NO3)3·6H2O under the hydrothermal condition. The X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis reveals that the complex is monoclinic with space group Cc, a=1.7714(4) nm, b=2.4391(5) nm, c=1.7120(3) nm, β=104.39(3)°, Z=4, V=7.165(2) nm3, Dc=1.722 g/cm3, μ=2.065 mm-1, F(000)=3768, R1=0.0645, wR2=0.1424 for 8019 observed reflections with goodness-of-fit 1.050. The photoluminescence property of the complex in the solid state was studied at room temperature and strong blue emission was observed.
