Abstract: A porphyrin 5,10,15,20-tetrakisporphyrin and its Zn complex(TPPBr(Zn)) were synthesized and characterized. The interaction of TPPBr(Zn) with CT DNA was studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectra, circular dichroic spectrum and viscosity measurements. The constant of TPPBr(Zn) binding to CT DNA is 2.64×105 L/mol. The results suggest that the porphyrin complex can bind to DNA by self-stacked outside binding and static binding.

Key words: Water-soluble zinc porphyrin, DNA, Self-stack and static-binding
