Abstract: The different electrolytes, including the solvent and solution in electrolyte, and their effect on the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells were investigated. The electrolytes were optimized according to the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells. The optimized electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cells module was achieved, and the photon-electric conversion efficiency is 6.48% for DSCs with the size of 0.8 cm×18 cm, when ACN was used as the solvent in the electrolyte(0.1 mol/L I2, 0.1 mol/L LiI, 0.5 mol/L TBP and 0.6 mol/L DMPII).

Key words: Dye-sensitization, Solar cells, Electrolyte, Alkylimidazolium iodide
