Abstract: Glutathione(GSH) was prepared on a gold electrode by self-assembled procedure. Cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the electrochemical behavior of GSH self-assembled monolayer modified on a gold electrode on the activation of surfactants in potassium ferricyanide and benzoquinone(BQ) solution. It was found that GSH monolayer showed an ion-gate behavior in the presence of cationic surfactants and the electron transfer was improved with the increase of the concentration of cationic surfactants, which results from the fact that the interaction between the monolayer and surfactant changes the conformation of GSHmonolayer. Anionic surfactant showed some inhibition to electron transfer at GSHmonolayer modified gold electrode.
