Abstract: Aself-constructed end-column chemiluminescence detection system for capillary electrophoresis has been described.Luminol and N-4-aminobutyl-N-ethylisoluminol(ABEI)H2O2 chemiluminescence systems are used to illustrate the feasibility of this instrument.Comparatively sharp and symmetric electrophoretic peaks are obtained with the detection limit of 50 fmol and 290 fmol for luminol and ABEI, respectively, Cr(Ⅲ) and Zn(Ⅱ) ions are separated with rather sharp peaks due to their fast catalytic effect on the luminol-H2O2 reaction. The theoretical plate number reaches 1.51×105 and 1.86 ×105 for Cr(Ⅲ)and Zn(Ⅱ),the detection limits of which are 15 amol and 2.07 fmol, respectively.
