Studies on CpTiCl2-LiAlH4System--Reduction of Cyclic Acetals and Ketals

Abstract: Treatment of CpTiCls with 2 molarity of LiAlH4in Et2O at 30℃ produces organo-titanium species which react with cyclic acetals and ketals derived from aromatic (or aliphatic) aldehydes and ketones, giving the corresponding hydroxyalkyl ethers and alkyl benzenes (or aliphatic hydrocarbons).
