Abstract: The chemiluminescent oxidation of gallic acid and formaldehyde in the presence of thiourea by alkaline H2O2 is found to be applied to the simultaneous determination of cobalt and manganese ions. The proposed method is highly selective to those ions. Detection limits are found to be 1. 5× 10-5 ppm for CO( Ⅱ ) and 0. 02 ppm for Mn( Ⅱ ). Relative standard deviations are 1% for 1× 10-3 ppm Co( Ⅱ ) and 1. 8% for 0. 4 ppm Mn( Ⅱ ) respectively.
