Synthesis and ¹HNMR Spectra of Substituted Cyclopentadienes

Abstract

Abstract: A Series of substituted cyclopentadienes, namely, C₅H₅RR'Ar,R = CH₃, R' = CH₃, C₂H₅, C₃H₂, CH₂CH(CH₃)₂, R = R' =C₂H₅; R = R' = (CH₂)₅; Ar = C₆H₅, p-, m-, o-CH₃C₆H₄ , .p-,o-CH₃OC₆H₄ were prepared by the reaction of 6,6-dialkylfulvenes with aryllithium followed by treatment with water. For the steric effect of o-tolyl and o-methoxyphenyl, the chemical shifts of alkyl protons at 6-position in o-substituted phenyl cyclopentadienes split to two groups of signals.
