Abstract: A new catalytic spectrophotometric method has been developed for determination of trace amount of vanadium based on oxidation decoloration of bromophenol blue with potassium bromate in sulfuric acid (pH=2.2). Addition of citric acid could advance the sensitivity. The range of determination is 0.001 to 0.50μg/25mL vanadium (V). Combining with the separation technology of ionic exchange, the method was applied to determination of trace amount of vanadium in nature water.
