Abstract: Experimental studies on the effects of the concentration of PO43- and Ca 2+, ion strength and pHof buffer on the polarity and magnitude of F-potential of hydroxylapatite(HAP) were carried out in present study to characterize the surface physicochemical properties of hydroxylapatite. Adsorption of bovine serum albumin(BSA) on HAPwas carried at different conditions in terms of pH, ionic strength, and the concentration of PO43- to establish the knowledge of adsorption mechanism. A Langmuir adsorption isotherm was obtained and the apparent activation energy and adsorption heat were interpreted. The low magnitude of the apparent activation energy and the adsorption heat indicated the fast adsorption of BSAon hydroxylapatite was a physical adsorption in nature.
