A Study of the Characteristic of Metastable Zone of the Aqueous K2SO4 Solution (Ⅱ)——The Effect of Impurities on the Crystallization Process of K2SO4 Solution

Abstract: The effects of 10 different ions on the metastable zone width and the nucleation characteristic parameters of aqueous K2SO4 solution are investigated. It is observed that the metastable zone widths are increased in the presence of Li+,Cr3+,Al3+,Fe3+ and decreased in the presence of Cu2+, Zn2+,Mn2+, Mg2+ and do not greatly change in the presence of Na+ and NH4+. The influence of impurities on the metastable zone width may be the result of their effects on the specific surface energy σ12, the nucleation energy △G(r*) and the rate of crystal growth.
