Abstract: Seventeen new complexes of rare earth perchlorates with diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (EO2Me2) and diethylene glycol bis(o-methoxy phenyl) ether [EO2 (MeOP)2] were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, XRD, IR, thermal analysis and 1H NMR.The compositions can be formulated as Ln3(ClO4)9·(EO2Me2)5·18H2O(Ln = La, Pr, Nd),Ln(ClO4)3 .EO2Me2·8H2O (Ln=Sm-Er, Yb.Y) and Ln(ClO4)3EO2 (MeOP)2·6H2O (Ln = La,Pr, Nd,Eu,Gd).Their properties, especially NMRand IRspectra, were investigated. The effect of terminal group of acyclic glycol on the compositions and properties of the complexes studied was discussed in detail. Some significant results were obtained.
