Abstract: Cu2+ ions can be adsorbed by alkaline cellulose-based magnetic polyamidoxime adsorbent(BMAO). After contact for 20 min, the adsorption capacity and the binding ratio were found to be 0.69 and 0.59, respectively, and then the adsorption rate decreases suddenly. It is considered that the reaction is going into the next stage. The results of adsorption kinetics and the observation of SEM suggested that CuCl2 was adsorbed by BMAO to give a bidentate chelate, and the redox reaction took place between them afterwards. The results obtained by the variation of CuCl2 concentration or liquid-solid proportion show that BMAO is suitable for CuCl2 uptake from dilute solution and adsorption on a large-scale.
