Abstract: The preparation of Cr2O3-pillared tin phosphate was studied in detail. The previ-ous method with two-step colloidization by propylamine and a great amount of NMe4Cl was innovated, and Cr2O3-pillared tin phosphate samples with a high surface area were prepared successfully through one-step colloidization by various ammes. The surface area of the sam-ples prepared reached 445m2/g, which was much higher than the value 380m2/g reported in literatures. After calcination at 400℃ the samples possess a prefect pillared structure and uniform slit-shaped mesopores with diameters between 1.7-5.0nm.The Crm2O3-pillared tin phosphate samples are weakly acidic, and are catalytically active for dehydration of iso-propanol and n-propanol. The cyclohexane dehydrogenation activity of the samples are high-er than that of a conventional Cr2O3 supported catalyst, showing that Cr2O3 in the pillared catalysts is in highly dispensed state.
