Abstract: A new effect of fluorescent sensitization is studied.Co2+ can promote the complexation reaction between 7-(8-hydroxy-3,6-disulfonaphthylazo)-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid(R) and boron(Ⅲ)(provided by B2O42-), and makes the fluorescent intensity increase but does not change the characteristic fluorescent spectrum. Our study show that it is the formation of heteropolynuclear complex CoR2B that makes the fluorescent sensitization. So, a fluoremetric analytical approach of cobalt has been established. It's linear range is 0-5.1×10-7mol/L Co2+, and the detection limit is 7.2×10-9mol/L.
