Abstract: The stale of water in some ultrafiltraiion membranes with amide unit was investigated by using TGA, DSCand FTIR.Ultrafiltration membranes with amide group ran absorb water at room temperature. The absorbed water existed mostly as hydrogen bonded monomers, with a small proportion of dimers, trimers and higher oligomers, and would be almost dehydrated completely at 40℃.The amount of absorbed water per amide group varied in the order.polysulfone amide (PSA)> poly(benzimidazolone) (PBIL) > aromatic polyamide (APA), but the absolute amount of absorbed water varried in the order, APA>PSA>PBIL.
