Preparation and Structure Study of Pr(Ⅳ) Composite Oxides Ce0.8Pr0.2O2

Abstract

Abstract: Pr (Ⅳ) composite oxides Ce_0.8Pr_0.2O₂ was prepared by means of ozonizing the co-precipitated Ce(Ⅱ)and Pr(Ⅱ) hydroxides or heating the coprecipitated Ce(Ⅱ) and Pr(Ⅱ) ox-alates.Chemical analysis and X-ray powder diffraction results show that this compound has a flourite structure similar to CeO₂ and PrO₂, but its crystal cell constants are different from theirs obviously.In this compound Pr(Ⅳ) is more stable than in pure PrO₂, we can attribute this to the existence of Ce(Ⅳ), which makes Pr (Ⅳ)—O^2- distance longer than in other Pr(Ⅳ) oxides.
