Abstract: Seven new solid complexes of rare earth (Ⅲ) with naphthyloxyacetate ion with a general formula of Ln(NOA)3·xH2O(Ln = La3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, Gd3+, Tb3+, Dy3+, x = 2; Ln = Y3+, x=1; NOA = C10H7OCH2COO-) were synthesized in aqueous solutionThe electronic spectra of complexes were observedThe molar conductance data show that the complexes do not ionize in DMFIRspectra and 1H NMRspectra or XPSmeasurement indicate that the rare earth (Ⅲ) ions are coordinated with the carboxylate ions in Ln(NOA)3·xH2Ocomplexes, and these coordinate bonds are not purely ionic ie., but have some covalent character.
