Abstract: Ten A-nor sterols (1-10), isolated from the marine sponge Phacellia fusca schmidtcollected from the South China Sea, were identified on the basis of the data of GC-MS and some other spectro-metric methods. These sterols are known but were found for the first time in the marine sponge P. fusca schinidt. The finding of the class of A-nor-sterols is of considerable value for chemotaxonomy of the Axinellidae family sponge.
