Syntheses and Characterization of Complexes of 2,5-Thiophcncdicarbaldchyde Schiff Bases with Copper (Ⅱ)

Abstract: Four new copper( Ⅱ ) complexes of Schiff bases, derived from condensation of 2,5-thio-phenedicarbaldehyde with o-amino-p-R-phenol (R =-(CH3)3, -H, -Cl,-NO2),were prepered and characterized by means of elemental analyses, electrical conductances, magnetic susceptibility, differential thermal-thermogravimetric analyses and visible-UV, IRand ESRspectra. Complexes CuL1 and CuL2 show characteristic, of square-planar coordination by two nitrogen and two oxygen donor atoms of the ligand about the copper atom. Complexes CuL3·2H2O and CuL4· H2O which may possess hexa-coordination about the copper atom are arranged in a distorted octahedral geometry.
