Fluorimetric Reaction of Cobalt with 8-Hydroxyquinoline -5-Sulphonic Acid and Its Application

Abstract: Based on the reaction of Cobalt with 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic acid, a simple, sensitive and selective method for the fluorimetric determination of Cobalt is described. Its fluorescent species has excitation and emission maxima at 370nm and 470nm, respectively. Its fluorescent intensity shows a linear relationship in the range 3.7×10-7~2.5×10-5mol/L. The method is applied to the determination of Cobalt in some substances. The nature of the reaction is discussed.
