Studies on Preparation and Property of Positive Charged Montmorillonite

Abstract

Abstract: The positive charged montmorillonite is prepared with positive mixed metal layered hydroxide deposited on montmorillonite by insertion reaction, it's highest ζpotential can reach +40 mV.The effect of temperature, concentration of Mg²⁺, pHand electrolyte on its ζpotential is studied.We consider that this positive charged montmorillonite has a characteristic adsorption on Al³⁺ and has no characteristic adsorption on Mg²⁺.The interaction between it's suspension and various valence anions is in agreement with Schulze-Hardy rule.
