Abstract: Monoclinc hydroxyapatite nanocrystals have been successfully synthesized at room temperature. X-ray diffraction, ICP, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy was used to characterize the samples. The experimental results indicate that the as-synthesis samples are monoclinic hydroxyapatite, which synthesized before only at very high temperature. This is the first report of fabricating monoclinic hydroxyapatite crystals at low temperature environment.

Key words: hydroxyapatite, monoclinic;chitosan
