Force Titration of ω-Mercapto-n-undecylamine Self-assembled Monolayers by Chemical Force Microscopy

Abstract

Abstract: Chemical force microscopy(CFM) was used to measure the adhesion forces between Au coated Si₃N_{4 tip functionalized with —OH and —NH₂ groups and gold sample functionalized with —NH₂ groups. The curves of the adhesion force as the function of the solution pH values(force titration curve) was obtained. The pK_1/2 of surface —NH₂ groups estimated from the force titration curve is 8.4 by —OH functionalized tip and 9.0 by —NH₂ functionalized tip.}
