Abstract: A series of phenylenevinylene dimers with different electron-releasing substituents were synthesized by Wittig reaction. Their electronic structures were characterized with cyclic-voltammetry and UV-V is spectra, their energy levels were calculated with a quantum chemical calculation approach (AM1), the relationship between the photoluminescent property and the electronic structure was systematically discussed.

Key words: Phenylenevinylene dimers, Electronic structure, Photoluminescent property
