A New Method for the Synthesis of 2-Aryl-3-alkyl-7-nitro-1, 4-benzoxathiin-4, 4-dioxides

Abstract

Abstract: Eleven new title compounds were synthesized for the first time by treatment of α-(2-chloro-4-nitrophenylsulfonyl) acetophenones with several alkylating reagents in K₂CO₃-TEBA-DMFsystem via alkylation cyclization reaction. The influences of catalysts and sol-vents on the yield were studied. The possible mechanism of the reaction was suggested. The reaction may provide a new and convenient method for the synthesis of 1,4-benzoxathiin-4,4-dioxide derivatives.
