Studies on Synthesis and Drug Release Properties of Aliphatic Polyester Anhydrides

Abstract

Abstract: Polyanhydrides are of particular interest as materials for controlled drug releasesystems due to their excellent surface erosion properties.In this paper, a series of aliphaticpolyester anhydrides -[COCH₂CH₂COO (CH₂)_nOCOCH₂CH₂COO]-_mwere prepared.The invitro degradation and drug release properties were also investigated.The results showed thatthe aliphatic polyester anhydrides had low melting temperature (⁷0℃).The in vitrodegradation rates of polyester anhydrides decreased with the increase of n, and degradationcompleted within₂₄⁴0h.The drug release rates from polyester anhydrides matrixes arerelated to the behavior of polyester anhydride degradation.
