Abstract: Nineteen new derivatives of phenylcarbonylmethyl aryloxyacetate were synthesized by the reaction of potassium aryloxyacetate with bromomethyl phenyl ketone using 18-crown-6 as the phase transfer catalyst. Their structures were identified by IR, 1HNMR,MS and elementary analysis. The results from the preliminary biological test show that some of these compounds enhanced or inhibited the growth of wheat coleoptile. The stimulating wheat coleoptile growth abilities of Ipand Iqare similar to or higher than that of the parent regulator──2,4-Dand 4-CPA.
