Abstract: Twenty-four new addition complexes of type R′R″SnCl2·2- HOC6H4 CH=NC6H4Rand R′R″SnCl2·(2-HOC6H4CH=NC6H4R)2 have been synthesized by the reactions of mixed diorganotin dichlorides, R′R″SnCl2 (where R′= Et, Bu, Bz;R″=Ph;R′= Et, R″= Bu), with N-arylsalicylideneimines, 2- HOC6H4CH=NC6 H4 R(where R= H, 4- CH3, 4- OCH3, 3-CH3, 4-OH).The complexes are non electrolyte in nitrobenzene.NMR (1 H, 13C), TG-DSCand XRDstudies indicate the ligands coordinate to Sn atom via phenolic Oatom rather than imide Natom, under different reaction conditions, the same organotin compound and the same Schiff base can form the complex to have different coordination number.
