Abstract: It was determined that 4-(2-thiazolylazo)resorcinol(TAR)and the chelates of iron, cobalt and nickel with TARcan be oxided at a glassy carbon electrode. The above chelates andTARwere separated on a spherisorb ODScolumn with a mobile phase of methanol-water(55/45,V/V) containing0. 01 mol/L Na2HPO4-KH2PO4 buffer(pH7.0) and were detected at 0.86V.The calibration graphs were rectilinear from 0.1-5 ppm,0.01-5 ppm,0.08-1 ppm for iron, cobalt and nickel, respectively. The detection limits were 0.8,0.2,0.8 ng for iron, cobalt and nickel respectively. The method has been applied to the analysis of hair samples.
