Abstract: The diblock copolymer of isotactic polystyrene and isotactic polypropylene (iPS-b-iPP)was very effective emulsifier for iPS/iPPblend. It was shown that the mechanical properties of iPS-b-iPP/iPS/iPPblend(i.e. lzod impact strength, ultimate elongation and tensile strength at break) dramatically enhanced with the increase of diblock copolymer content. As investigated by DMAand SEM, the characteristic temperature-modulus performance and observed morphology of iPS/iPPblend pair unambiguously supported the interfacial activity of iPS-b-iPPcopolymer as both a dispersant and a "coupling agent". The phase size was significantly reduced, the interfacial adhesion was dramatically increased.
