Studies on Synthesis of Glutathione Peroxidase Mimics and Its Catalytic Mechanism

Abstract: Four selenium-containing compounds were synthesized on the basis of the active site structure of glutathione peroxidase.These compounds indicated a higher activity of glutathione peroxidase than PZ51, which is known as the best mimic compound.Anew catalytic mechanism was proposed based on the chemistry and activity of these synthesized mimics.
