Abstract: The reaction of molecular oxygen insertion into Co—C bond of RCo(Salen)L(R=CH3, C2H5,n-C3H7,n-C4Hg and i-C4H9,L=N2Oor Py)complexes under photochemicalconditions was studied by HPLCand UV-Vis spectrophotometry and the resulting productswere characterized by elementary analysis,IR,UV-Vis, ESI-MSand 1H NMRspectra. Theresult shows that the insertion reaction of the oxygen into Co—C bond occurs and the prod-ucts are ROOCo(Salen)Lcomplexes which can be reduced to alcohols by NaBH4 in THFandbenzene. The further studies on kinetics and mechanisms of the reaction are proceeding.
