Abstract: Several photophysical(spectra, oscillator strength, lifetimes, and quantum yields for fluorescence),excited state redox properties and photo-stability of five water-soluble metalloporphyrins(ZnTMAPP,ZnTMPyP,MgTMPyP,ZnTBPyP,and ZnTTPS4 where TMAPP=tetrakis-(trimethylaminophenyl) porphyrin,TMPyP=tetrakis(N-methylpyridyl) porphyrin,TBPyP=tetrakis(N-benzylpyridyl) porphyrin, and TTPS4=tetrakis(3-sulphpotolyl)porphyrin) were investigated. It was found that MgTMPyPis a good photosensitizer compared with others.

Key words: Water-soluble metalloporphyrin, Photophysics, Photochemistry, Photosensitizer
