Abstract: Mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-48 was prepared hydrothermally with CTAB, NaOH, TEOS as source materials. Characterization results obtained from the determination of XRD, TEM, N2-adsorption, IRspectra and TG-DTAshow that the products possess similar structure properties as those reported in literatures. Various synthesis parameters, including crystallization time, crystallization temperature and starting gel composition, have been studied. It was found that the crystallization temperature of 373K was preferable, lower temperature leading to weak crystallinity, higher temperature leading to amorphous material. Crystallization time of 3d was found suitable for MCM-48 formation, shorter time resulting in a low crystallinity. The influence of composition features such as n(H2O)/n (SiO2) and n(CTAB)/n(SiO2) on the product was studied.
