Abstract: The ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone(CL) with lanthanum tris(2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenolate)[La(OAr)3] as the initiator was reported in this work.Orthogonal experimental design was used to find the optimal conditions of the polymerization. The optimal conditions of the two orthogonal experimental designs were found to be: t=20 ℃, t=50 min, c(CL)=0.6 mol/L, n(CL)∶n(La)={1000} and t=30 ℃, t=30 min, c(CL)=0.7 mol/L, n(CL)∶n(La)=1000, respectively. The crystallinity of PCLwas above 50% measured by means of DSC, the melt temperature increased with the increase of the molecular weight, while the melt enthalpy(ΔHm) and crystallinity decreased with the increase of the molecular weight.
