Abstract: Amethod of Rhus vernicifera laccase immobilized by using hydrous transition metal oxides is introduced and a possiblle model of hydroxyl groups of polysaccharide, which is a part of the enzyme, complexed with transition metal ions is given. The optimal condition of immobilization of laccase by chelating .method is investigated. The properties ef the free laccase and the immobilized laccase are compared and the possible reasons for the differences of them are discussed.

Key words: Laccase, Hydrous transition metal oxide, Immobilized enzyme
