Synthesis and Herbicidal Activity of New Sulfonylurea Derivatives

Abstract: In order to search for more environmental-benign sulfonylurea herbicides and study their structure-activity relationship, on the basis of a new sulfonylurea herbicide NK94827 {N-[(4'-methyl)pyrimidin-2'-yl]-2-methoxycarbonyl phenylsulfonylurea}, 18 novel sulfonylurea compounds modified at benzoic acid ester were synthesized. The structures of the target compounds were confirmed by 1HNMR and elemental analysis. Preliminary herbicidal activity of these new sulfonylurea compounds was determined by rape disc assay and pot bioassay experiments. The results indicate that some compounds have good a herbicidal activity, and large lipophilic groups in ester moiety are unfavorable for the activity.
